Through the unwavering efforts of two separate community initiatives, we were able to acquire an astounding 5,611 masks to contribute to the Glebe Centre retirement home. With a bed capacity of 254 residents and a storied history dating back to 1886, Ottawa's first Home for the Aged is with us in our hearts.
As the world runs critically low on professional supplies, it is vital that all those not in the highest risk situations continue to protect themselves (and by extension their peers) without burdening the supply chain. Here's how we're tackling that problem with home-grown ingenuity.
Goggles, gowns, and face shields– over 10 boxes of equipment totalling more than $4,500 CAD were donated to the Ottawa Heart Institute to protect the hardworking doctors, surgeons, nurses, and front-line staff assisting some of Ottawa's most critically-ill patients.
Responsible for directing the Ottawa Hospital and all its front-line staff, researchers, and scientists in their response to the global COVID-19 pandemic, the Ottawa Hospital Foundation's reception of our $23,500 donation will allow it to better serve our city today and into the future.
